Mrs Child/Mrs Bell/Ms Darling Groups
Those children working in set 2 sounds will reach the end of the set on Wednesday 20th January. The videos will start to repeat from Thursday 21st January. If you missed some the first sounds, they this is a good time to catch up. If your child is Fred talking the words, we now need to move onto reading the words with Fred in your head and to eventually read the words quickly. To support this, I have attached a ppt of all the set 2 words which you can use to revise sounds and words. If you need printed copies of the words you can ring the office. Set 3 restarts on Tuesday 26th January for this group.
Mrs Wilcox’s group
Those children working in set 3 sounds will reach the end of the set on Monday 25th January and it will start to repeat from Tuesday 26th January. You can catch up on some of the sounds you may have missed. Set 3 is always taught twice. The first time is focused on reading and the restart would focus on spelling. This can often cause confusion with different special friends making the same sounds – ay/ai/a-e.
In Y1 this term the focus is reading the set 3 words, initially using:
Once they know the sound, they should move onto Fred in the head and then speed reading.
I have attached a ppt of set 3 words which you can use to revise the sounds and build up the speed reading of words. If you need printed copies of the words you can ring the office.
