Using the clues on the worksheet, and perhaps with a little help from a world map, choose a place for each person to go on their holidays. How will that person need to travel, what will they pack and what type of activities can be done there?

This is a good opportunity to talk about your own previous holidays together. You could use Google maps/Streetview to take a tour of some interesting or exotic destinations. We have done this in class before and the children have loved pretending they were really going to that place.

You could discuss how close to the equator that country is, and therefore how sunny and hot it is likely/unlikely to be. Using the Equator and North/South Poles will help your child's understanding of climate around the world e.g. Santa likes to build snowmen at the North Pole and he wouldn't be able to do this near the equator!
