Modern Foreign Languages Lead:

KS1 Mrs Getlevog

KS2 Mrs Tyas

Learning French is a fun and exciting part of the curriculum throughout KS2. Children enjoy the varied range of teaching methods which are very interactive and include songs, dances, role play and games. The variety of activities enable children to make progress in spoken and written French as well as developing their inter-cultural understanding.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 also have regular, extra-curricular French lessons. Just like in KS2, they are extremely interactive and full of fun. The children always look forward to learning French and often use the vocabulary they have learned outside of French lessons.

We continue to raise the profile of language learning  through school assemblies and displays. We offer a popular French Club and always participate in North Tyneside LA’s Primary Languages events.
The children are settled into their new classes and French lessons are taking place! The new Reception children have been particularly enjoying their 'new' French lessons. They have been learning a few basic greetings as well as where France can be found geographically.

During the Spring Term we were pleased to welcome another French Assistant into school - Manon.

Manon has worked with the staff and children to support us in learning French and improve our knowledge of culture, practices and traditions in France. Some of the KS2 children were lucky enough to attend Manon's French club on a Tuesday after school. Making and eating crepes was a particularly enjoyable session!

This year we are lucky to have Miss Bonnamy (from Nantes in France) working with us to help us learn more about French culture and to enhance our French language skills. She is also running French clubs at lunchtime and after school.
