The Specialist Support for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in North Tyneside Service offers dedicated support for North Tyneside residents resettling in the North Tyneside area under the government-approved Resettlement Scheme.

The service works in partnership with internal & external agencies to support the settlement and integration of refugees and asylum seekers and ensures there is support for adults to engage in training, volunteering & work opportunities at their earliest opportunity.

Joanna Blizycka provides this dedicated “Specialist Support for Refugees and Asylum Seekers” service and advice, including:

  • Job search, CVs, Job applications, Cover letters

  • Interview preparation

  • Training opportunities

  • In-work support

  • Signposting to other organisations

The whole support emphasises additional support for refugees as Joanna has access to a flexible fund that covers:

  • Travel costs
  • Statement of comparability (for overseas qualifications)

  • Interview and work uniform
  • Childcare to enable attending ESOL classes

The Refugee & Resettlement Team

The Refugee Support service works very closely with the Homeless Prevention Team and Walking With charity to offer general advice and support for asylum seekers within North Tyneside who do not have the financial support available to them.

The service offers drop-in sessions every Tuesday at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth and every Wednesday at the Beacon Centre (Working Well Hub) in North Shields.
