This half term we will be reading One Dog and his Boy by Eva Ibbotson. If you would like to read along please feel free to bring your own copy of the story to read at the end of the day.
This half term we will be learning about Famous Local Heroes. (Sorry not Ant and Dec or any of the Newcastle Football Team!) We will be looking at great inventors, socialists and engineers from the local area and how they impacted on life today. We will start with George Stephenson and build on children's existing knowledge of who he was and what he is famous for, visiting Dial Cottage and the recently installed Geordie Lamp. We will also look at Lord Armstrong, and Emily Davison and how their inventions and their social activism shaped the world we live in today.
If you have anything to support the topic please do not hesitate to share. The Discovery Museum has an excellent exhibit based around the big 6 inventors in the North East if you are interested in visiting!
